The Russian Doll Trend: How Not To Look Like A Matryoshka

One hot trend we're seeing for Autumn 2009 is the Russian doll/Slavic look, inspired by designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Anna Sui, and Gucci. The style is characterized by high-impact florals and paisley prints in rich jewel tones against stark black, vibrant plaids, studded belts, embroidery, and full skirts in folkloric motifs. Basic rules

-Balance out your figure with colour. As a rule, take one dominant colour and mix it with others that combine with and enhance your ruling colour.

- BUT you can add one colour to tone another down.
- Black and white are not thought of as colours and are rarely found naturally in their pure state, which means they go with any colour.
